The escape from Kabul hell: Pentagon adds three more US bases to try and house up to 70,000 Afghan refugees
After leaving Kabul, Afghan refugees are brought to one of several staging areas in Middle East and Europe. Those are located in Qatar, Bahrain and Germany, with 14 more locations opened after reports of overcrowding and horrific conditions at Al Udeid base in Qatar. Refugees then arrive in the US through Dulles Airport in VA, where reports of bottlenecks emerged.
