The Marathon remake won't be a PlayStation exclusive, despite Bungie's acquisition last year Marathon Bungie PlayStationShowcase

Bungie has revealed that it’s working on a remake of its classic FPS – and no, it’s not that one, it is in fact the game it made before it was big – Marathon.

The news was announced via a trailer during the latest PlayStation Showcase, which gave us an idea of what to expect with a flavour trailer. While we didn’t see much gameplay, it’s clear it’ll be getting a very extensive glow-up, considering the original launched in 1994 and was only available for the Mac. You can check the trailer out for yourself down below.

. The game will launch on PlayStation 5 as well as Xbox Series X|S and PC – though a release date has not yet been given. The game will be a “PVP extraction shooter” – and promises to have two teams ‘compete for survival, riches and renown in a world of evolving, persistent zones, where any run can lead to greatness.”from Bungie, we’ve essentially been given an even deeper look into the inner working of the upcoming adrenaline-packed extraction shooter.

Although we’re yet to get a good look at Marathon’s combat and map designs, Bungie’s track record indicates that this will be a hit with the shoot ’em up crowd once it’s launched. But, alas, we’ll just have to remain patient for the time being until the developers and PlayStation decide to give us more specific information on the game.
