Marc Guehi will not be punished by the FA after the Crystal Palace player wrote 'I love Jesus' on his rainbow-coloured LGBTQ+ captain's armband.
Marc Guehi augmented his rainbow armband which he wore during Crystal Palace’s game against Newcastle England star Marc Guehi has avoided a Football Association charge after he scrawled ‘I love Jesus’ on his rainbow-coloured captain’s armband. The 24-year-old, a devout Christian, added the message to the armband which he wore during Saturday’s Premier League game between Palace and Newcastle United.
British-born Egypt midfielder Morsy, who is a practising Muslim, led the Tractor Boys during their 1-0 defeat away to Nottingham Forest. The 33-year-old was the only one of the 20 top-flight captains in action not to wear the rainbow armband. Ipswich said they ‘respect the decision’ of their skipper but are “committed to being a fully inclusive club”.
