It's National Crime Victims' Rights Week.
People marched and held a vigil in York in support of crime victims .It was part of National Crime Victims ' Rights Week.'Just being able to speak out and tell people your story is very healing in itself,' Sarah Brooks said.'Anything we can do to spread some peace and care amongst each other,' Joan Figueroa Berly said.
The goal was to encourage members of the community to learn how to better support survivors.Brooks said she's a victim of child sexual abuse. She wants victims to know that speaking out is worth it. 'I know it's very scary at first, and for those victims who have exceeded their statute of limitations, my heart truly goes out to those people because the weight you feel is lifted off you after you have gone through that process is unbelievable,' she said.
