I am the inventor of the sports bra, an entrepreneur with more than 30 years’ experience in both business and nonprofit sectors. I hold 10 patents and in 2022 was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. An author and artist, I am passionate about empowering and nourishing the creative spirit in everyone.
Trying to answer this question for myself, I came across a list of what UN Women has identified as the “Top Ten Gender Equality Accelerators.” UN Women is the entity created in 2010 by thededicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. It was established with the mission of being a global champion for women and girls. A tall order, to say the least.
My own experiences starting and running a women-centered business in a male-dominated industry inform certain aspects of my view of the gender equality issue, at least as it pertains to entrepreneurship and business. “Jogbra Inc.” was the first women-owned business in sporting goods. My business partners were women, and we started the business with the byline “By Women For Women.
