He believes the Dutch international winger Noa Lang is a better player than superkid Xavi Simons
Impressed Marco van Basten is certain Rangers will have to keep PSV star man Noa Lang quiet next week if they want to reach the Champions League.
And he believes the Dutch international winger is a better player than superkid Xavi Simons, who was sold to PSG and then loaned to RB Leipzig. Rangers face a difficult task to get through to the group stages for the second season in a row when they play the Dutch cracks in the play-off round. PSV have lost Simons - who scored 22 goals in 48 games last season - after PSG activated their £5 million buy-back clause before promptly loaning him to Bundesliga high-fliers RB Leipzig.
However, former Netherlands and Ajax manager van Basten - a three-times winner of the Ballon d'Or and former FIFA technical director - believes Lang is an upgrade anyway. He said: "No-one is talking about Simons anymore here because I think Noa Lang is much better than him. If you look at PSV's last two games, he wanted to have the ball and he is a very confident player. He also scores goals and is involved in every attack.
"He really is a player with everything in his locker. In the past, I have been annoyed at the attitude he has shown. But now he has turned that into a positive. He is now really showing what he can do. You can get away with that attitude if you can show that amount of quality on the pitch. He will be an important player for PSV in the Champions League play-offs."
