PRESIDENT Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has approved the implementation next year of the Value-Added Tax Refund Program for foreign tourists in a bid to boost tourist arrivals in the country, Malacañang said Sunday.The initiative was among the 'Quick Wins' recommendations of the Private Sector Advisory Council Tourism Sector Group.
Palace officials said that Marcos will issue an Executive Order in the coming days for the tax refund program, which is also being carried out in other countries.The other 'Quick Wins' recommendations approved by the Chief Executive include the rollout of e-visa this year prioritizing China and India.The proposals, which were presented to the President last week, aim to further boost the country's tourism industry.
