PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants the government to put in place safeguards in the planned online procurement system, Malacañang said Wednesday.
In a statement, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil said the President issued the directive during a sectoral meeting in Malacañang on Tuesday. This, after the Department of Budget and Management announced that its Procurement Service will pilot an e-Marketplace under the Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System for government procurement of motor vehicles.
During the meeting, the President said there should be an accreditation system to ensure that the government gets what it buys.He also warned about overpricing, which will be disadvantageous to individuals buying products and equipment via the digital platform.'There will still be an element of accreditation because we cannot just open the market to anything. [What if] you buy something, you get nothing? A box with nothing inside. Yung ganoon ,' Marcos said.
