PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will embark on a state visit to Malaysia next week where he is looking 'to identify new areas of synergy' between the two Southeast Asian countries.

In a pre-departure briefing in Malacañang, Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Ambassador Teresita Daza said the Chief Executive is slated to meet with King Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his trip to Kuala Lumpur from July 25 to 27.'He will pursue bilateral cooperation in priority areas that are at least in support of the economic agenda of the country.

While there, Marcos will also meet with the Filipino community mostly made up of household service workers and highly-skilled, semi-skilled, and general laborers.'This forms part of some 100 thousands of Filipinos that are in Malaysia, but in terms of exact number we don't. It's usually an estimate that is given relative to Malaysia,' stated the DFA official.
