PRESIDENT Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. wants the 'trigger period' of fuel subsidies to be trimmed from three months to one month and for concerned government agencies to simplify requirements for the release of aid to operators of public utility vehicles (PUV) who are hardest hit by high fuel prices.

'For those of you who are not familiar with the trigger period... whenever the Dubai price per barrel exceeds $80 for three months, then that will be the trigger for the provision of subsidies to the transport sector drivers – public utilities including tricycle and other public utilities.

Lotilla said the order comes after the Chief Executive's sectoral meeting with the DoE, Department of Transportation , the Department of Trade and Industry and National Economic and Development Authority , Department of Budget and Management , Department of the Interior and Local Government and Department of Information and Communications Technology in the Palace.
