The Marikina City government released a traffic rerouting scheme that will be implemented for the grand parade and opening ceremony of the “Palarong Pambansa” or National Games on Monday, July 31.
“The city has prepared a traffic management plan to ensure that traffic will flow orderly and avoid inconvenience to motorists,” said Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro.
The local government advised motorists to avoid the vicinity of the Marikina Sports Center and the parade routes on July 31 due to expected heavy traffic. The grand parade, starting at the Marikina River Park, will pass through Zapatero St., J.P. Rizal St., V. Gomez St., Shoe Avenue, and a portion of Sumulong Highway.
As such, the following roads will be closed: Kabayani St. Extension, J.P. Rizal St. ; Jacamar St. ; Shoe Avenue ; Chanyungco St. ; McDonalds Avenue corner Sumulong Highway; and Sumulong Highway corner McDonalds Avenue.
Around 160 traffic management personnel, under the Office of Public Safety and Security , will be deployed to assist and manage the flow of traffic.
