Los Angeles District Attorney declines to press charges against the musician after a four-year investigation. Manson denies all allegations.
Marilyn Manson will not face criminal charges stemming from a series of domestic violence and sexual assault allegations that emerged in recent years. Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochman announced on Friday that his office concluded a four-year investigation without sufficient evidence to file charges. Hochman stated that allegations of domestic violence fell outside the statute of limitations and prosecutors were unable to prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.
He acknowledged the courage of the women who came forward with their experiences and emphasized the importance of their advocacy in raising awareness about the challenges faced by survivors of abuse. Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, has vehemently denied all allegations against him. He is currently married to artist Lindsay Usich. A dozen women accused Manson of sex abuse, rape, and torture, with actress Evan Rachel Wood publicly alleging sexual assault and emotional abuse during their relationship from 2006 to 2010. While Wood never filed a lawsuit, she was a key figure in the public discourse surrounding the allegations. Manson filed a defamation lawsuit against Wood and her friend Illma Gore, alleging 'malicious' and 'false' sexual abuse claims that damaged his career. However, the lawsuit was dropped in November 2023, and Manson subsequently paid Wood's legal fees. Manson has also settled lawsuits with two other women, including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco, who accused him of sexual assault, sexual battery, and human trafficking. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigated Manson for 19 months before handing over its evidence to prosecutors in 2022. The case garnered significant media attention, particularly after the release of Wood's HBO documentary, Phoenix Rising: Don't Fall, in 2022. The documentary further fueled public scrutiny of Manson's behavior and prompted additional women to come forward with accusations. Despite the lack of criminal charges, the allegations have undoubtedly had a profound impact on Manson's career and public image
