Lance Cpl. Kareem Mae’Lee Grant Nikoui was killed in action while stationed at the Hamid Karzai International Airport Thursday, Aug. 26, as thousands of desperate people, including Americans, tried to get aboard planes to evacuate Afghanistan before the planned withdrawal of U.S. troops on Aug. 31.
