The Seattle Mariners are expected to fire Scott Servais and name Dan Wilson their new manager, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.The news comes on the heels of a devastating sweep in Los Angeles at the hands of the Dodgers that saw the Mariners fall to 7.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins for the third and final wild card berth in the American League.
It was the first and so-far only major league managerial job for Servais, 57, who is 680-642 in nine seasons with one postseason appearance under his belt. The Mariners reportedly signed him to a multi-year contract extension in 2018, though it was not known at the time how long the contract ran.Wilson, 55, has worked in the Mariners organization since 2014, including the last five as a special assistant for player development.
