Talks between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) about her effort to oust Johnson failed to yield results.
Greene announced that her conversation with Johnson would continue Tuesday morning, saying she has been “patient,” “diligent,” and “steady” in her position on the issue.
The meeting took over much of the afternoon, leading to the House GOP elected leadership meeting at 4:30 p.m. being canceled, theconfirmed. Members such as Reps. Kevin Hern and Bob Good waited nearly 30 minutes for the speaker but eventually left after it was clear the meeting would continue. However, the speaker said while he understands the “frustration” of Greene and the co-sponsors of her motion, “the reality is we are working with the smallest majority in U.S. history with a one-vote margin.”
