Mark Selby showcased his exceptional snooker skills, successfully defending his Championship League Snooker Invitational title in Leicester on Wednesday night. The four-time world champion displayed remarkable form, consistently making high-scoring breaks throughout the tournament. In his final group match, Selby achieved a remarkable 147-break, the sixth of his career, propelling him into the semi-finals.

Continuing his impressive streak in his hometown, Selby defeated Hossein Vafaei with a series of impressive breaks, including 129, 135, and 65. The final pitted him against the world champion, Kyren Wilson, and Selby proved dominant, securing a 3-0 victory. This win marked Selby's 37th professional title. 'It's very pleasing,' said Selby. 'Best of fives, it's a bit of a lottery, especially with the standard of players in this Championship League, it's difficult to win.' He further added, 'I played a lot better than yesterday. Semis and final I played well, scored well when I got my chances. It's nice to beat someone like Kyren because he's the man of the moment at the minute. I know it's only best of fives, but you still get a bit of confidence from it. I feel like I've been playing ok the past couple of months, just a bit inconsistent. If I can try and string that kind of form together then I've got a chance in any tournament.' While Wilson fell short in the final, he displayed another impressive run, reaching his fifth final of the season. Having won three trophies this season, Wilson's path to the semi-finals included victories over Hossein Vafaei, Si Jiahui, and Matt Selt. In a thrilling semi-final match, he outplayed Judd Trump, the world number one, with breaks of 120 and 113. However, Selby proved too strong in the final
