The new release is based on the 2016 Mikael Lindnord non-fiction book Arthur - The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home.
Per Deadline, the Arthur the King release is projected to debut at the domestic box office with a 3-day opening weekend total of $8 million. This will place it at No. 3 on the domestic chart for the weekend behind the holdover hits Dune: Part Two at No. 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4 at No. 1. However, it has outperformed every other title that debuted the same weekend, including The American Society of Magical Negroes, Snack Shack, One Life, and Knox Goes Away.
