Mark Zuckerberg has admitted he regrets bowing to “pressure” from the Biden administration to "censor" content on Facebook and Instagram relating to the Covid-19 pandemic. In a letter to the US House Committee Chairman, Jim Jordan, the tech billionaire claimed Mr Biden’s administration pressured employees at Meta to block content in 2021.
" In response, the White House said: "When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety."Our position has been clear and consistent: we believe tech companies and other private actors should take into account the effects their actions have on the American people, while making independent choices about the information they present."Republicans called Mr Zuckerberg’s letter a “big win” for free speech.
