Market Drayton Town Council has hired a public relations and marketing company to improve the town's branding and attract visitors.

Market Drayton Town Council has taken a significant step towards enhancing the town's image and attractiveness by hiring a public relations and marketing company. This decision follows a recommendation from the Town Centre Action Working Group, tasked with identifying strategies to revitalize the area.

The group's report, commissioned by the retail group, outlines a comprehensive 52-point plan aimed at improving the town center's visual appeal and creating a more welcoming environment for residents. However, the council recognizes the importance of attracting visitors and tourists, a goal that hinges on strong marketing and public relations efforts, which the town currently lacks. To address this gap, the council unanimously voted to appoint a marketing and PR firm to collaborate with the town council. This partnership will focus on promoting Market Drayton, improving its overall image, and engaging with local businesses. The initiative is expected to yield several positive outcomes, including the establishment of new social media platforms and a revamped website dedicated to showcasing Market Drayton's unique offerings to both residents and potential visitors. To finance this endeavor, the council has allocated funds from the 'Earmarked Reserves' to cover costs associated with the contract from February 1 to March 31, 2024. Furthermore, £20,000 will be set aside from the Communication and Promotion budget for the fiscal year starting April 1, 2024, to specifically address the services provided by the chosen marketing and PR company. The working group will closely monitor expenditures and provide regular updates to the committee
