Boris Johnson is said to be keen to reopen outdoor activities in a bid to save the summer
as saying: ‘It is clear from the scientific evidence that the rate of infection is much less likely outdoors. The combination of fresh air and sunshine are bad for the virus but they make it safer for everyone.‘So we are looking at opening up the outdoors. But all done in slow steps.
However, the government’s scientific advisers said on Friday that the R rate is currently between 0.7 and 1 across the UK, suggesting the country is not yet ready to have further restrictions lifted. All bars, clubs and restaurants were ordered on March 20 to close for the foreseeable future as the government tried to contain the spread of coronavirus.
