The mayor of a market town has been forced to quit his position as a councillor on Shropshire Council, as he says it is "impossible" to go to council meetings because he works full time. The councillor recently qualified as a full-time teacher, but he has said as council meetings are held during the day when he is at work, it was"impossible" to do both.
"I had hoped to be able to continue to serve on both Shropshire Council and Oswestry Town Council until the elections in May. "I hope this will change in the future.
