The Canada star believes his former Hibs teammate Martin Boyle will have lucrative offers to choose from when he leaves the club this summer and is not surprised if he returns to Aberdeen.
Junior Hoilett is in no doubt that Martin Boyle will have a wealth of offers on the table when he leaves Hibs for a second time this summer.
But the Canada star wouldn't be surprised to see his former Easter Road teammate pulling on the colours of a club they both know well next season - Aberdeen . World Cup-bound Boyle was born and bred in the Northfield area of the city and supported the Dons as a boy. He even spent time on trial with Aberdeen in 2012 during his successful spell with Montrose before moving onto Dundee.
Boyle secured iconic status with Hibs after helping them lift the Scottish Cup in 2016 and apart from a six month spell with Al Faisaly, has remained with them ever since. Record Sport revealed that the out of contract 32-year-old is on the Reds radar but that a move back to the Granite City is unlikely because of more lucrative interest in the Australia international from elsewhere.
But ex English Premier League wide man Hoilett - who enjoyed a short stint at Pittodrie at the back end of the 2023/24 season before spending the next 18 months with Hibs - could see the speedster return to his roots. In an exclusive interview with Record Sport , he said: 'He is living legend. What he has done over the years and to be called upon for his club and his teammates is unthought of.
I'm sure he will be missed and I am excited to see what the future holds for him.
'He is another player and person that you want to be with on the field and off it. 'At the end of the day he is a talent and I am sure lots of clubs will want him in their squad. He will have many offers to decide from but being from Aberdeen, it could happen. I'll be excited to see where he goes and I'll keep following him for the rest of his career.
' Hoilett - who is hoping to appear at his second World Cup with co-hosts Canada this summer - was brought to Aberdeen by veteran boss Neil Warnock in February 2024, having previously worked under him at Queens Park and Cardiff City. He left the club at the end of the season following Jimmy Thelin's arrival but insists he has happy memories of his three months in the North East. The Swindon Town winger added: 'It was great.
It was my introduction to Scottish football. Obviously Warnock brought me in there in the February and although it was short, it's a spell that will stick with me forever.
'I just think he didn't have the time. When you go into a new environment, you need time to get used to players and get your points across. He does bring confidence and belief into his teams but I just don't think he had the time.
'He is a great manager and has proved over the years that he can turn things around at clubs. It was just one of those where he needed more time.
'Peter Leven then did a great job and created some memories towards the end of that season. Especially in that cup semi-final which was so close. We didn't get it over the line but it was a memorable day for not only me but my family as well. Leven did a great job and I am sure he will have a great managerial career ahead of him.
' 'We had a good group there and we finished the season well, although the club wasn't where it should have been. I respect the club and what they done for me. It was a short and sweet spell.
'We had a brief conversation but I got injured with the national team and talks kind of fell through. '
