This article discusses Martin Boyle's recent impressive goal-scoring form for Hibernian and his manager David Gray's turnaround of the team's fortunes. The author highlights Boyle's overcoming of injuries and his newfound leadership role, while praising Gray's tactical acumen and ability to bring out the best in his players. The article concludes by speculating on Hibs' potential for a top-six finish and a possible challenge for third place.

Martin Boyle's recent scoring streak has been nothing short of remarkable. Since a column in this publication suggested that Hibs might be wise to reconsider offering him a new contract, Boyle has been on fire, netting five goals in six matches, including back-to-back doubles against Rangers and Motherwell.

While it's tempting to credit my words with inspiring his resurgence, it's more likely that the stand-in Leith skipper has simply rediscovered his best form after overcoming some persistent injury woes. As a former frontman myself, I understand the frustration of relying on pace when your body isn't cooperating.Boyle has battled through a knee injury and a wrist problem lately. Initially, I wasn't sure if those were the primary factors hindering his performance, given that we were already halfway through the season. However, it's now clear that whatever was ailing him has cleared up, and we're witnessing the familiar Martin Boyle of old. On his current form, of course, a new contract would be a no-brainer. His manager, David Gray, is keeping things diplomatic when asked about his star player. After the weekend victory over Motherwell, where Boyle scored in a 3-1 triumph, Gray remarked, 'You always want to keep players that perform like that - that's the challenge to the wee man, to make sure he keeps going.' This approach incentivizes Boyle to maintain his high standards. If he can deliver consistently, Hibs will undoubtedly look after him. They can't afford to delay, though, as his performances might attract interest from rival clubs. At 31, Boyle might also be tempted by one last adventure before retiring. We know his stint in Saudi Arabia didn't quite fulfill his ambitions, and there's been speculation about a possible move to Australia. However, I believe Martin Boyle and Hibs are a perfect match, and it would be a shame to see that partnership dissolved. Gray deserves credit for his leadership. We're also seeing a new side to Boyle. He's been entrusted with a leadership role this season. While he's a joker off the pitch, his demeanor changes completely when he steps onto the field. His reputation for lighthearted antics might have deterred others from giving him this added responsibility, but Gray has recognized that Boyle's personality transforms when he crosses the white line. He leads through action rather than words, which takes a perceptive manager to discern. Well done, David Gray.I'm thrilled to see him getting the best out of the rest of the Hibs team. Let's face it, he was on the verge of losing his job after managing only one win from the first 14 games of the season. Everyone at Easter Road wanted to see Gray succeed, given his special connection to the club's history. But the 2016 Scottish Cup hero has turned things around, and his team is now in the top six for the first time this season. They've suffered just one defeat in their last 10 matches, excluding a commendable performance at Celtic Park. Finishing in the top half is the minimum expectation now. It was a slow start, but a strong finish to the season could put them in contention for European qualification, and I believe that should be the target. With Aberdeen's recent struggles, I wouldn't dismiss the possibility of Gray's team making a late push for third place. Boyle's story, at least, is one I'm eager to follow closely in the coming months
