Porteous is back in his old stomping ground for a friendly with Watford.
Martin Boyle has no doubt Ryan Porteous possesses the strength to bounce back from his Euro 2024 nightmare and show he is a top defender this season.
It could hardly have gone worse for the 25-year-old. But while Steve Clarke ’s side were suffering a miserable Euros exit, Boyle was heading back from Australia duty with a spring in his step having scored in a 5-0 win over Palestine to keep up their perfect start to World Cup qualifying. However the Hibs winger - a team mate of Porteous’ for over seven years at Easter Road - insists the 25-year-old has shown resilience to bounce back from setbacks through his entire career.
Watford are expected to bring a strong squad north of the border with just over a fortnight to go before the Championship kick off. Hornets boss Tom Cleverley says Porteous will feature in Leith after returning from an extended break following his international duty.
