Lucinda's email to Martin's team revealed that her mum had initially lost her entitlement to the £300 Winter Fuel Payment due to recent government rule changes.
Following the change, Martin Lewis has been actively encouraging older UK residents to check if they're entitled to Pension Credit, which he refers to as a "financial lifeline" for low-income pensioners and suggests it should be renamed "the state pension top-up". According to the DWP, this benefit can provide an average annual boost of up to £3,900, reports the Mirror.
