A MoneySavingExpert reader was amazed to discover he was entitled to a council tax reduction after reading the website's guidance - and he was refunded almost £20,000
Martin Lewis's website has uncovered a way for UK households to significantly reduce a hefty bill, with one family claiming back nearly £20,000 after learning they were unaware of a 'little-known' benefit. A reader of the MoneySavingExpert newsletter, named Paul, realised he was eligible for a council tax reduction due to severe mental impairment after following guidance from MSE.
Paul shared his experience, stating: "We've just received an email from our council, confirming a refund of £19,593. This is backdated to May 2007 - the year of our son's 18th birthday."
