Both Labour and Conservative party leaders clashed repeatedly during the debate, but Martin Lewis says the 'real question' was not asked

Whoever wins the general election , with record numbers of people on the NHS waiting lists, a broken social care system, and stubbornly high energy bills, the next Prime Minister is going to have to make some "tough" choices if they are to fix the problems facing Britain. But at ITV 's first televised debate of the general election , Martin Lewis did not think "the real question" had been answered.

Both Labour and the Conservatives have pledged to not raise taxes if they get into power, making any expensive policies to tackle these huge issues difficult, reports the Mirror.

The personal finance guru, along with much of the rest of the country that had tuned into ITV at 9pm , was left wanting after the ITV debate saw each leader given just 45 seconds to provide answers to the massive problems facing the UK. With the cost of living squeezing Brits on all sides, the Money Saving Expert was scathing at the lack of scrutiny faced over their plans.
