Perhaps his preoccupation with numbers isn’t surprising, given his position as one of the most trusted voices on financial matters and money-saving in the country. “I’m in the right job,” he says., the website Lewis founded in 2003 is read by more than 16 million people every month. “The problem I have with parents teaching kids how to play games is that they just teach them the rules, notto play – how to think about it and approach it strategically,” he says. “Bright kids will eventually figure it out by themselves, by lots of trial and error, but you can speed it up a lot. Not to get too worthy but I think there are a lot of life lessons in board games.”
“Winning isn’t a bad thing,” says Lewis. “Being a bad loser is a bad thing; being cruel to the opposition, making fun of people when you’ve beaten them. I’d be very upset if my daughter did that. She wouldn’t. Enjoying winning and enjoying being driven is important. My biggest competition is myself.”
