While things are looking grim for billpayers, Martin has advised on ways they can mitigate costs
Martin Lewis has provided an essential update for all billpayers amid concerning energy price predictions.
Discussing predictions from Cornwall Insight, Martin explained that prices in January are likely to go up 5 per cent from current prices while they will then rise 0.3 per cent in April. Martin did note though that predictions are less reliable the further ahead the predictions go and are thus subject to change.
He then pointed out some deals to viewers, namely the E.ON Next Pledge Variable for existing customers only which is roughly 3 per cent under cap for one year, as well as the same supplier's 12-month fix for both new and existing customers which is also 3 per cent over the cap. Martin explained: "Why do they do it? Well it's to balance supply and peak demand so that they can not fire up fossil fuel plants as often as possible in peaks.
