Money expert Martin Lewis took listeners through a range of Inheritance Tax tips
Money-saving expert Martin Lewis has offered a word of comfort to those fretting over Inheritance Tax, suggesting their worries may be unfounded.
Martin also clarified a common misconception regarding spousal inheritance, stating: "Most people don't realise that what you leave to your husband or wife is tax-free." He elaborated further: "Anything you leave to your spouse is exempt, so you can leave whatever you want to your husband or wife and there is no tax on it."
A poignant example was shared of an individual whose partner passed away unexpectedly after 36 years together, without marriage or a will in place. Due to their parent's estate valuation, the offspring faced a steep £97,000 Inheritance Tax bill.
