Checking how much credit you are in at this time of year could get you back hundreds of pounds, according to Martin Lewis
Money -saving expert Martin Lewis has issued a call to action for energy customers on a direct debit to reclaim their cash this month.
With winter increasing household energy usage, such as heating and lighting compared to the milder usage in summer, there's a fluctuation to keep an eye on.Regardless of whether you're with British Gas, E.ON, EDF, OVO, Octopus or any other provider, the direct debit remains constant throughout the seasons. Energy companies calculate your average expenses, providing you with a consistent figure to budget for, rather than a rollercoaster of costs.
However, if your credit has grown excessively, you might just be giving the energy company a free loan to earn interest on, instead of keeping it in your bank account where it belongs, reports the Mirror.
