Martin Lewis, the financial guru, has issued a stark warning to state pensioners—and indeed anyone—who might be considering the 'heat the human, not the home' approach as a means of staying warm this season. The alarming advice comes after the removal of the £300 Winter Fuel Payment and the retirement of the £300 Cost of Living payment last year.
Suggestions include donning USB heated gloves or gilets, battery-powered heated jackets, or versatile 'oodie' blanket-hoodie hybrids instead of activating central heating. Additional tips involve the simple acts of placing foil behind radiators to reflect warmth back into rooms and employing 'tactical curtains', which involve making the most of sunlight when available and shutting out the chill when it's overcast.
"The problem with doing that is it can hurt literally the structure of your house by doing that, keeping it cold but keeping yourself warm.", reports the Express.
