The Money Saving Expert founder presented the iconic show and said he found it 'not very well suited to me' especially when Paul Merton 'took the gloves off'
Personal Finance guru Martin Lewis has said that he would almost certainly never go back on Have I Got News For You and said it had been ‘difficult’ when Paul Merton ‘took the gloves off’. The Money Saving Expert founder presented the iconic show last Friday and said that while it was a ‘great thing’ to have done, he didn’t think it would happen again.
He explained: “I went in, you go to the script meetings and sometimes I go ‘I can’t say that’ I tried to take some of the things I couldn’t say out. Sometimes where they’ve done some financial lines I was like ‘well if we’re going to do that it’s got to be correct' and I rewrote the financial stuff. “The first question we recorded for about 45 minutes just one question and my job is to sit there and not say anything and sometimes it almost felt very very awkward and there’s silence and you’re just letting it build so those funny moments you see in the edit happen.”
