“For me, the best thing would be to go in as a sporting director with full authority over the football operations and put in a coach that would work with him. That would have made sense and I still thought the Shaun Maloney, Martin O’Neill duo was the right solution in many ways.
“That may well be something I have to look at again, but Martin would have a big say in it. I think it would be a mistake for him to go on for another year. ”Celtic have to appoint their next manager before the club can make any major decisions ahead of the summer transfer window. Multiple players face uncertain futures at Celtic Park, including midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who was signed as a free agent in February.
Oxlade-Chamberlain though was out of favour during Celtic’s post-split fixtures, remaining on the bench for the final four games of the season.
