Liverpool want to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad but he is set to play for the La Liga outfit on Friday night
Liverpool supporters could be about to get a hint as to just how likely the Reds are to be successful in their pursuit of Martin Zubimendi on Friday evening. The club wants to make the Euro 2024 winner the first signing of the Arne Slot era. But while the Spain international is understood to boast a £51.65m release clause in his contract, a deal has not yet been agreed with Real Sociedad as the La Liga outfit try to convince the 25-year-old to stay put.
Liverpool have recent evidence of this themselves, having not called upon the services of both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho last summer. The two midfielders were both in their travelling party, training with their team-mates in Germany. But when it came to friendlies against Karlsruher SC and Greuther Furth, neither were included in Jurgen Klopp 's matchday squads as lucrative moves to Saudi Arabia beckoned.
