Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has paid tribute to Ruud van Nistelrooy after the Dutchman departed Old Trafford on Monday. Van Nistelrooy returned to United for the first time since his controversial exit as a player in the summer, joining as Erik ten Hag's assistant manager after Mitchell van der Gaag departed. It was speculated that the ex-striker was being groomed for Ten Hag's job should Ineos choose to fire the manager.
