Matt Bloomfield joins Luton Town from Wycombe Wanderers, aiming to steer the Hatters away from relegation danger in the Championship
Matt Bloomfield has been appointed as the new manager of Luton Town on a three-and-a-half-year contract, succeeding Rob Edwards who departed last week. The 40-year-old Bloomfield takes charge at Kenilworth Road, transitioning from his previous role at League One club Wycombe Wanderers . He aims to guide Luton away from the perilous position they find themselves in, currently occupying 20th place in the Championship , just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Bloomfield brings a wealth of experience to the Hatters, having amassed over 500 appearances for Wycombe and previously managed Colchester United. He is accompanied by his coaching staff: assistant Richard Thomas, first-team coach Lee Harrison, and analyst Ben Cirne. Upon his appointment, Bloomfield expressed elation and a deep sense of responsibility, stating, 'It’s a genuine honour and a privilege to be here, to be appointed as manager of this incredible club.' He acknowledged the passionate dedication of the club officials, stating, 'The fact that they’re all Luton supporters and that they care so much about their football club shone through, and the fact that they had a real big desire for me to join our football club also shone through, so I’m incredibly proud and very, very happy to be here.' Bloomfield's move to Luton comes at a crucial juncture for both parties.
