Former health secretary Matt Hancock has spoken out in his first ever TV interview following his time on ITV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! and hit out at Piers Morgan over his "ridiculous" interviews.
Matt, who was caught breaking social distancing guidelines with Ms Coladangelo, said he felt £10,000 was "a decent chunk". He said he had turned down ITV twice when asked to come on the show but insisted money wasn't the "primary consideration" for eventually agreeing to take part.
Matt said he wanted to show the public who he was "as a person" and felt he could only do that by heading to Australia. He said: "What the public knew about me was through a particular lens. Coming on this programme [Good Morning Britain] and Piers Morgan chatting monologues at me for 20 minutes."Susanna retorted: "Once again, it's called being held to account." Disagreeing, Matt said: "No, not that stuff, that was just being told off.
During the second half of today's interview, Matt was confronted by Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway whose husband Derek Draper is one of the country's worst affected Covid patients. She accused Matt of not understanding why people were "cross".Speaking of his future plans, Matt, who will not be standing as MP again, said he would spend 2023 thinking about what he wanted to do.
