The Dane is in both boxes more often and revealed that tweaks to what he eats is seeing him find the net more often.
The Celtic star has made a blistering start to the campaign and won a call-up to Denmark’s senior squad. O’Riley’s displays secured him the Premiership Player of the Month Award for September and a tweak of eating habits is helping him progress. He said: “I’m fitter than I was last year and stronger. That helps late in a game when you still have the ability to run off your opponent.
“Mentally this is the best I’ve felt. I am more open and free on the pitch and that helps me play freely. It also helps me take risks without worrying about what will happen. I’ve tweaked a few things with my diet. Every so often I assess what I’m doing and tweak things. It’s nothing drastic but diet and sleep are things I am quite diligent about. I’ve tweaked the amount of carbs and veg I’m eating, and snacking.
O’Riley hopes to continue his scoring spree at Hearts, with five goals already. He said: “My role’s changed a bit. Defensively, I’m in our box more than I was last season. Offensively, I’m also in the other box more. That helps with being fitter and going box to box.” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
