Highly-rated French defender Leny Yoro is through the door at Old Trafford and Man Utd are still open to more transfers at centre-back including Matthijs de Ligt.
Manchester United are still open to a move for Matthijs de Ligt - despite signing Leny Yoro - and the Netherlands defender could grab his dream shirt number at Old Trafford if a proposed transfer goes through. United made Yoro their second recruit under Ineos this week when his £58.9million switch from Lille was confirmed.
The Manchester Evening News understands United are willing to bring in up to three centre-backs this summer as Erik ten Hag and key figures behind the scenes plot a defensive rebuild. However, their ongoing pursuit for Everton starlet Jarrad Branthwaite and De Ligt from Bayern Munich is now heavily reliant on outgoings.
Mason Greenwood has been sold to Marseille and could be followed out the door by other players such as Victor Lindelof - the Sweden captain - and Scott McTominay amid interest in his services. United are said to have already verbally agreed personal terms with De Ligt as they weigh up whether or not to submit a formal bid to Bayern.ALSO READ: United might have discovered a summer surprise
On the proviso he does sign, the Dutchman might have a 50-50 choice to make regarding his shirt number. The 24-year-old wears No.4 for Bayern and did so during his spells at previous clubs Ajax and Juventus. It remains vacant at Old Trafford, too, amid suggestions Yoro is set to be assigned the No.15 shirt. However, No.4 is not the only realistic option for De Ligt, who wears No.3 for the Netherlands senior team.Bayern are thought to want £42million for De Ligt this summer.
