While we were holed up watching TV or regrettably logging onto our millionth Zoom call, Matty Bovan was getting creative in lockdown...
I really do love it all, but I particularly loved working on the massive painted T-shirts with side panels. I cut them up and pinned them all on to big canvases and then each day would add more and more words, and personal drawings. I then screen printed over some of them. As with all my work there is loads of different influences creeping in. I also love the joggers with the 2 colour screenprints down the legs - I haven't stopped wearing them.
What’s been the best thing about working with her during lockdown?Yeah, so my mum made some jewellery which is really great and I did some surreal 'digital oil paintings' of me in them. We actually were distanced for a while, so we worked via messages which was cute. It's a stressful time for families now, I'm very lucky to have my family not too far away, and to work together was really special.
