Prior to their extensions, Harrison and Kidd had one season left on their existing deals, signed when they arrived in the summer of 2022. “Cynt and Nico and Coach Kidd, they’re the leaders who define the culture and the character of the organization,” Dumont said. “And I think they’ve done a phenomenal job. And so I think it made a lot of sense. We want them all here for the long term.”Marshall said her passion for the Mavericks hasn’t lessened since the day Cuban hired her, at a time when the franchise was found to have a toxic culture on the business side, with several executives being accused of sexual harassment.
When the franchise sale was finalized in December, Cuban said that he not only retained a 27% ownership stake, but oversight of the franchise’s basketball decisions, as had been the case since his January of 2000 purchase of the Mavericks from Ross Perot Jr. The Mavericks made the playoffs in each of Cuban’s first full 12 seasons of ownership, as well as 15 of the first 16.Advertisement
