Caloocan City Mayor has assured the public that the P30 million worth of allegedly expired meat products confiscated by national and local government agencies in Caloocan on Tuesday, Aug. 1, will be disposed properly so they will not reach the markets.
Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo "Along" Malapitan has assured the public that the P30 million worth of allegedly expired meat products confiscated by national and local government agencies in Caloocan on Tuesday, Aug. 1, will be disposed properly so they will not reach the markets.
The mayor, together with members of the City Veterinary Department , Bureau of Customs , Department of Agriculture , and the National Meat Inspection Service on Tuesday, inspected a warehouse on Tuna Street, Kaunlaran Village, Barangay 28, where they found five container vans with expired meat products which allegedly came from China and Germany.
“Inaalam na po natin kung sino ang may-ari ng mga produktong at warehouse na ito. Sisikapin natin na hindi na aabot sa ating mga pamilihan ang ganitong klase ng karne para sa ikabubuti ng lahat ng Batang Kankaloo ,” Mayor Along added. The mayor also thanked the national and local government agencies involved in the operation that led to the seizure of the expired meat products.
The city government said the BOC will be filing cases against the illegal importers once they are identified.
