As central government funding to councils has fallen, tough decisions have had to be made by many councils. High inflation and the cost-of-living crisis have made a bad situation worse. Some councils now collect refuse bins once every three weeks and others have sold off their parks. The struggle faced by councils has also been made worse by increased demand for services. The cost-of-living crisis has persisted, meaning many more families need our help and the support we provide is increasingly expensive as prices and costs continue to rise. When we set our priorities for the budget ahead, protecting services for the most vulnerable will be a priority.
