Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna announced on Friday, Dec. 23, a half-day work suspension in the local government from 1 p.m. onwards on Dec. 29 to give workers enough time to prepare for the New Year celebration.
Under Executive Order 59, Lacuna said the ordinance covers personnel and offices in peace and order, public services, traffic enforcement, disaster and risk reduction management, and health and sanitation.
The city government also declared a half-day work suspension for its employees in the afternoon of Dec. 23. “The suspension of work in national government offices and private companies holding office in the City of Manila is left to the discretion of their management and/or heads of offices,” the order added.
The order was signed by Mayor Honey last Tuesday, Dec. 20, and was attested by Atty. Marlon Lacson, secretary to the mayor.
