Presidential candidate and Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Sunday, Feb, 27, said it is just right for the Philippines to remain neutral on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.“Sa ngayon, kailangang mag neutral tayo dahil ang mahalaga sa akin, ang natitirang 180 na nandodoon sa Ukraine na may lumilipad na bala, na mailikas muna natin doon sa mga ligtas na bansa katulad ng Poland ,” Domagoso said during the CNN Philippines’ presidential debate on Sunday. Aside from Domagoso, Ernesto Abella and Faisal Mangondato also said that the country should remain neutral in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. While he recognized treaties and agreements, Domagoso said the government must prioritize Filipinos first, especially in this time of pandemic. “I think, before going to other things, we should attend at bigyan muna natin ng panahon kung paano natin itatawid yung mga kababayan natin sa pandemyang ito ,” he said.As of Feb. 26, the Department of Foreign Affairs has so far accounted for 181 Filipinos in Ukraine, mostly in Kyiv.
