Mayor Ron Nirenberg is sticking with Joe Biden , even as increasingly panicked Democratic lawmakers and other party insiders call for the president to withdraw from the race against Donald Trump . “I’m standing with Biden-Harris because they know that mayors — and cities — matter,” Nirenberg said in an X post this week.

Biden to speak in Austin as Republican convention kicks off in Milwaukee The Democratic Mayors Association is also backing Biden. Nirenberg, who sits on group's board of directors, reposted the group’s statement on X. “We need a President and Vice President who will champion working families, defend our democracy, and protect our freedoms,” the association said.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg urges patience for Ready to Work, as program crawls forward Nirenberg appears to be staying in close proximity to Biden and his staff. In February, Nirenberg canceled a City Council meeting so he could travel to Brownsville to meet with Biden when he visited the U.S.-Mexico border. Nirenberg has visited the White House 14 times during the Biden administration, according to Bruce Davidson, the mayor's communications director.
