So it has been with the great national celebration of the Platinum Jubilee followed so closely by the passing of the Queen. We saw national and international mourning for a faultless monarch and a great lady, followed by the hope and pride of the accession of the new King.
A few days later, Coun Hirst again read the proclamation to ramblers at Dunsop Bridge. A keen walker, he has developed a new Ribble Valley Jubilee Walk for his year in office, in addition to other work, and has led a few short ‘taster’ walks along parts of the route this autumn. Details are on-line and print leaflets are to follow.
On the theme of trying to resolve conflicts and difficulties, the mayor highlighted values listed by the late Queen, which he felt were very applicable now.
