McEwen Copper has applied for its Los Azules copper project in Argentina to be included in the country's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), a tax stability mechanism aimed at encouraging large-scale infrastructure development. The project, with an initial investment of US$2.7 billion, could benefit from reduced corporate tax rates, VAT relief during construction, exemption from export duties, and access to international arbitration. The company expects to produce 175,000 tonnes of copper annually for 27 years from the project, which ranks as the eighth largest copper resource globally.

The Los Azules project features an initial capital investment currently estimated at US$2.
