Rory McIlroy’s Netflix comments have come back to haunt him
, which is designed to bring golf’s biggest superstars together more frequently.
“We knew there were going to be four extra elevated events but we didn’t know anything about them being mandatory. I said, ‘If I’m willing to do this, so should you’. The PIP is a lucrative prize pot which rewards players for generating positive interest in golf – and McIlroy bagged £9.7m by finishing second to Tiger Woods in 2022.
And there was no support for McIlroy when his fellow players were asked about the decision to pull out.Joel Dahmen said: “I feel like Rory was leading the charge on the changes that have been made and he helped make the rules.“He knew what the rules were. So, he knew what was coming. He also has so much money, he doesn’t care about $3m.”
